Fungus ridden cake? This has to be a first!

Oh no, don’t get us wrong. We are perfectly aware that fungus ridden bakery products are a way more common then we actually are comfortable admitting. But a consumer forum ordering compensation for that sickly green growth on the lowly cake. Even if it is not the first, it is actually kind of rare.

In our very very dull world, populated by really repetitive insurance, aviation and banking issues, such cases are whiff of fresh…umm…well cake!

A Tamil Nadu consumer forum in Chennai has ordered a private bakery to pay compensation of Rs.10,000 to a person for selling a fungus-infested cake and has also directed the bakery to pay Rs.165 to him for the cost of the cake.

So this unsuspecting consumer bought a cake from Adyar bakery to celebrate his father’s birthday only to find an unwanted green presence in the midst of the cake, spoiling all the fun.

The forum deemed the cake unfit for human consumption based on expert report and held the bakery liable to pay the compensation.
