31 farmers in Gulbarga lost their crops due to poor supply of seeds by the government sampark kendra. Government contended that the farmers are not consumers and hence cannot file a complaint in the forum. The Gulbarga District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, however, rejected the contention and directed the Karnataka State Seeds Corporation and Agriculture Department to pay a compensation of Rs. 10, 000 to each of the 31 farmers.
